INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
Are you feeling lonely, isolated, and overwhelmed?
You are not alone. Many expats living abroad experience these types of feelings. I experienced them too, when I first moved to the Netherlands back in 2000. My goal is to help you find your way back to a more fulfilling life, regardless of where you are living.
Integrative Psychotherapy
All people are equal, yet you are one-of-a-kind. Therefore, not one particular form of therapy, method, or model is suitable for you.
Integrative psychotherapy involves combining various methods based on your individual needs. Using these different models, I will create a custom made treatment program that is just for you.
The aim of integrative psychotherapy is to activate the healthy components within your personality in order for you to discover what you need to make self-governed decisions, solve your own issues and reach your full potential. My role as the therapist is to guide and support you through this process.
The Therapy Process
During the therapy process we will focus on your current situation, how you are coping at present and what you want to accomplish.
After establishing a safe and secure therapeutic relationship, we will explore your inner resources and how they relate to your thoughts, feelings and actions. From there you will be able make new choices and achieve your therapy goals.
You are unique, therefore you will progress at your own pace. The average length of treatment varies from 5-30 sessions. Appointments are usually held weekly or once every two weeks.
Issues and Treatment Methods
I have over 15 years of experience working with expat clients who have had a wide variety of issues.
Currently, the focus of my practice is working with expats who are experiencing sexual difficulties, such as: low-desire, body-acceptance, difficulty achieving orgasm, premature ejaculation, and pain during sex.
I also work with expats who are experiencing common adjustment issues with living abroad, such as: isolation, loss of self/identity, stress management and general life overwhelm.
Below are some examples of the treatment methods that I use:
- Sex counseling combined with Mindfulness-based interventions
- Rumination Focused Exposure & Response Prevention (RF-ERP)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)
- Polyvagal Theory
